Establishing Law

The Marshall Islands Cultural and Historic Preservation Office (CHPO) was established by P.L. 1991-111 (read here) Historic Preservation Act. The Act was amended in 2022 giving the Act a new name: Cultural and Historic Preservation Act; including the Office: Cultural and Historic Preservation Office (read P.L. 2022-53 here). Its sole purpose is to promote preservation of the cultural and historic heritage of the Republic.
